Billboard survey tool
Private
In short: This is a mobile-first web app for weekly billboard inspection routes. It imports billboard pins from Google My Maps or a shared Google Drive folder and puts the order of stops in the most efficient sequence from your current location. You check stops off and take photos as you drive. It's private and password-protected.
The problem
Every week, a field surveyor gets a map of billboards to check. Working out a good driving order by hand and keeping track of which ones are done is slow.
What I built
- Import KMZ and KML files from Google My Maps, or pull the latest file straight from a connected Google Drive folder
- Facing-direction hints ("drive this direction to see it")
- Mark stops done or excluded, and take photos from the phone camera at each stop
- In-app map with no Google API key (MapLibre and OpenFreeMap)
- Route optimization through OpenRouteService, with a built-in fallback (nearest-neighbor plus 2-opt) so ordering works even without a key. Routes are capped at 49 stops.
- One tap opens a stop in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions
- Installs on a phone as an app (PWA), with a fix for pinch-to-zoom in Tesla's in-car browser
Stack
Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma with Neon Postgres, MapLibre GL, OpenRouteService, and the Google Drive API. Deployed on Vercel.

FAQ
Can you build a field tool that replaces our spreadsheets?
Yes. Internal tools are usually priced like portals.
